Adam is thrown out of his home and on the run from a drug dealer when he desperately breaks into a house on Lindö in the Stockholm archipelago. There he is surprised by 86-year-old Britta, a grumpy and determined lady who, against the wishes of her children, has escaped to her beloved summer house.

Britta lets Adam stay because she realizes she needs help. He has to pay for the food she provides by working hard and obeying her slightest whim. At first, it doesn’t work so beautifully between them, but slowly a friendship begins to emerge that will change them both. It will be a magical summer - one of the best in Britta's life.

The Last Summer is a warm and entertaining novel about a random meeting and an unexpected friendship.

Reviews:

"Touching, fun and filled with summer vibes!" - Expressen

“I have laughed, cried and just enjoyed the experience of reading this fantastic book. I read the last 100 pages with care because I did not want it to end." - Puppies and Books, book blog

“Impressive debut novel - I wish it was longer! The story has a perfect balance between seriousness and humor plus it is rich and well-written. … You are sucked into the beautiful summer feeling - the smells, the grass under your feet and days on the countryside. This is a relationship novel with great warmth that also feels very real! Highest rating." - Annsofie writing life, book blog

“It feels like I'm there! I'm part of the family, one of the friends. I have laughed with Britta, Iris and Adam. I have become angry and frustrated. I have cried with them, but above all I have felt a great joy to be a part of the community!” - Nina's Bookshelf, book blog

"Well-written upmarket women's fiction. original and well thought out characters, nice environment depictions and flow. Both sweet, salt and bitter. Highly recommend!" - Kajsa Ingemarsson
