Helena is busy preparing her husband Martin’s birthday dinner when the phone rings. It is her colleague Pia, who teaches at the same school, announcing that she’s had an affair with Helena’s husband for the past two years. Martin’s betrayal hits Helena deep, and once the school has closed for the summer, she flees the city for the mountains of Härjedalen, where she has borrowed a small red log cabin. In her solitude, life first becomes even darker, despite the endless summer nights. But then she meets the energetic Louise, who runs a waffle hut in the mountains, and Louise persuades Helena to find new joys in life. She starts working in the waffle hut and enjoys herself tremendously. But Helena carries a darkness from her childhood, which she must overcome to become whole again.

A Waffle Hut with a View is a gripping feelgood novel about grief, cold baths and new opportunities, all embedded in a magnificent mountain environment.

Reviews:

"This year's feelgood is as clear as a mountain stream and as tasty as a waffle made with real cream. Karin Härjegård takes us on a journey of life in the borderland between resignation and hope, and she is afraid of neither seriousness nor laughter."
- Nomination for Feelgood of the Year 2022

"A fine-tuned depiction of healing after a breakup, of the love for craft food and of finding balance thanks to the support of others." – Östersund Posten

"A believable, well-written novel with lovely environments and vivid portraits of people who become friends you think you know. Highly recommended!”
- Agneta Norrgård
