Alex is a writer and has hit a dead end, in more ways than one. The writing of her new book is going slowly and she and her boyfriend decide to take a break. In sheer desperation, she takes up an unexpected offer: to return to the small village in Italy where she spent the most crucial summer of her life.

Twelve years ago, Alex was at rock bottom, but was given the opportunity to leave all the heavy things at home in Stockholm and travel to the sun and warmth. On the Italian beach, she met Skye and her twin brother Matt from England – beautiful, charismatic and exciting.

The adventurous Skye rekindled her zest for life, and she was irresistibly drawn to Matt. But the balance between her friendship with Skye and her feelings for Matt became increasingly difficult, and amidst all the light there was a hidden darkness.
