Ella-Mei is in her seventh year of studying in Lund without really knowing what she wants to do with her life, other than posting about the books she is reading on BookTok. Her friends are getting married and having children, while Ella-Mei is renting out a room to survive financially. When she gets a new roommate, she sees a calm, harmless guy in front of her. It should be simple, impersonal and definitely not romantic.

Instead, Chris appears: dangerously handsome, hopelessly sloppy and not at all the type she had imagined. He is a nuisance, he takes up space and seems to glide through life without taking anything seriously. Ella-Mei thinks he is superficial, while he sees her as predictable.

When she is faced with the choice of joining the Lunda Carnival, where Chris is the carnival general, she decides to show both him and herself that she can actually have fun in her last year at university.

But when the steady routine is disrupted, everything becomes more complicated than she imagined, and soon it's hard to decide whether Chris is ruining her life or making it a little more worth living.

I Love You, and It is Ruining My Life is a romance full of heat, humor, and sparkling chemistry.
